Overview

As an Insurance Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring smooth operations within the dental office by managing all aspects of dental insurance processing and patient billing. This position involves verifying insurance coverage, processing claims, and assisting patients with understanding their insurance benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Verify dental insurance coverage for new and existing patients.
  • Communicate with insurance companies to confirm patient eligibility and benefits.
  • Update patient records with accurate insurance information.
  • Prepare and submit dental insurance claims electronically or by mail.
  • Monitor the status of claims and follow up on outstanding claims.
  • Resolve any issues or discrepancies related to claims processing.
  • Act as a liaison between patients, dental staff, and insurance companies.
  • Educate patients about their insurance benefits and coverage limitations.
  • Assist patients in understanding insurance policies, including deductibles, co-pays, and maximums.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of insurance information and claims.
  • Document communications with insurance companies and patients.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Provide administrative support to dental office staff as needed.
  • Assist with scheduling appointments, answering phones, and managing patient inquiries.
  • Discuss financial options and payment plans with patients when necessary.
  • Process payments and reconcile accounts receivable.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience working in dental office administration or insurance coordination preferred.
  • Proficiency in dental practice management software and insurance billing systems.
  • Strong understanding of dental insurance terminology, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain complex insurance information clearly and concisely.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with patients and insurance company representatives.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in dental assisting, dental office administration, or healthcare administration is a plus.
